5 EASY WAYS TO SPICE UP YOUR BUTTON DOWN

There is nothing easier than jeans and a button down (well jeans and a t-shirt is slightly more, but that is besides the point) This is the type of outfit that can be dressed up or down and is super versatile. I could pair it with a pair of sneakers, heels, or these leopard booties.

Button down shirts will carry you from season to season as they pretty much can be paired with anything. You'll want to have at least 3 button down shirts in your closet for the maximum versatility.  They don't need to be black, white and gray, but they should be colors that you wear the most often and look the best on you. 

1. CONTRAST

A great way to make the outfit stand out is to go for higher contrast. This shirt would have looked great with blue jeans, but I opted for these dark olive green jeans for a little more of a pop. 

This concept works very well with neutral colors have a warm and cool base, just in case you aren't fond of wearing a lot of colors. This post will show you how to create a dynamic look with warm and cool color contrast.

2. STATEMENT NECKLACE

A statement necklace is a great way to dress up your button down. It works well in a contrasting color. You could also go for a more monochrome look with a necklace similar to the color of your shirt.

3. PRINTED SHOES

Wearing a shoe with a great print gives your simple button down outfit a bit more pizzazz and can also make your look more trendy. Since a button down is a really classic pieces, this outfit can carry you from season to season and year after year. You can update your shoes anytime!

4. ROCK A HAT

When getting dressed, I always like to have a piece that is noticeable right away. Topping off your look with a hat gives it an air of sophistication and completion. 

5. OPT FOR A NON-CLASSIC FIT

A simple button down is something you generally find in everyone's closet, but you ca also choose to add a few button downs that are shaped slightly different. There are:

• off shoulder
• belted
• tie front
• oversized
• cropped

These styles will take a very simple look and make it more stand out.
